An interview with Tamara Little: 27, Leo, Red Montessori Preschool Teacher, frogs

Hurrrrrrr are some snippets from an interview with my friend Tamara!

  • I like frogs because they are beautiful and graceful and are symbols of transformation

  • Style is how you present yourself to the world. It's personal and unique, like a signature.

  • My favorite fashion designers: Jil Sander (love her edgy, minimalist style), Vivienne Westwood (she's my idol), Elsa Schiaparelli (look her up, she's amazing)

  • Artists: I'm really into children's book illustration. I adore: Maira Kalman, Leo Lionni, Simms Taback, Shirley Hughes, and John Burningham, to name just a few I love photography, and Joel Meyerowitz has long been a favorite.

  • Fashion photography especially fascinates me, and Tim Walker's photos (many for British Vogue) leave me awestruck.

  • I am an aspiring children's illustrator. I also make greeting cards. I work with pen-and-ink and Prismacolor pencils Fashion magazines have long inspired me, as do illustrated books.

  • Fashion has influenced humanity, and humanity has influenced fashion. You cannot have one without the other.

    (the awesome lady herself!)

(above are some illustrations by Tam)

  • Do frogs influence your personal style choices? (the colors or patterns you wear? their habits? their symbolism for transformation?) Yes, they do. Wish I had this fabulous dress from Anthropologie (but too $$$ : ( Bella Frog (my character) is my fashion alter-ego. My newest range of Fashion Frog notecards. And yes, I think I admire them not only for their cuteness, but their transformative properties.
